AREQUIPA: HOME OF THE
EARTH'S DEEPEST CANYONS
Arequipa, located 1,024 km. (640 miles) south of Lima, is
famous because Three volcanoes dominate the skyline: Misti, Chachani and Pichu
Pichu, Arequipa is also known as a the White City because much of it is build of
ashlar, the smooth white building stone carved from volcanic lava quarries.
North of Arequipa lies the spectacular Colca Valley, a picturesque Andean valley
dotted with towns founded in colonial times. This city is also famous because
its full of colonial churches and mansions, including Santa Catalina, a restored
convent established in 1579 and now open to the public after being closed for
400 years.
One of the most outstanding gift of the nature are its Canyons which are the
deepest of the world.

Half day tour
to the surrounding of the "White City" to enjoy the countryside and sunny
weather as you travel to Sabandia Mill and the Founders Mansion. The visit of
this Mansion can be substituted for a visit to the exhibit of the mummy
"Juanita", a virgin of the Sun who was sacrificed to the "Apus" or spirits of
the mountains and recently discovered in Ampato glacier.

Arequipa /Colca Canyon

After breakfast
we will transfer you to Chivay.

On the way we
will visit Pampa Caņahuas, the most important reservation of Vicuņas in
Arequipa.

In the
afternoon we visit the town located on the left margin of Colca river, Coporaque.
From here, we will walk for 2 hours approximately and enjoy the nature and
beautiful landscapes until we get to a pre-inca cemetery.

Before dinner
you enjoy the hot medicinal springs of La Calera.

Overnight at
the lodge in Chivay
Day 03:
Colca Canyon / Arequipa

After
breakfast, we will have a guided tour on Colca Canyon. Visit the Cruz del Condor
viewpoint in which we will wait for view of Condors.

Our last visits
will be Pinchollo, Yanque & Maca old towns, also the Antahuilque and Choquetico
viewpoints.

After lunch we
will go back to Arequipa city.
