Inca Trail Trekking Tips

  • Go at your own pace. Keep the same pace during your walk. Same speed uphill and down hill. Changing speeds will get you more tired.

  • Do not worry about getting lost, the trail is well signed and your guide will not let that happen.

  • Try to keep your backpack the lightest as possible. Even the lightest addition to your backpack will feel like tons more as you carry it for hours.

  • All equipment necessary (hiking backpacks, sleeping bags, jackets, EVERYTHING) can be rented in Cuzco at a low price. So you don’t have to bring them from home if you wish. The advantage of renting equipment is that they are all top notch professional equipment. You can rent the best backpacks, sleeping bags at a cheap price.

  • Bathrooms are very rare. And even if you are near one, they are usually not very clean. So in these cases nature will be you best option.

  • Enjoy your trip! Apart from the amazing natural scenery, there are many amazing ruins among the way. This trail was not designed for common people. It was a holy trail for the Inca and some fortunate priests. It really is one of the best hikes that exist.
